1. Who we are
Tax Pro Group Limited, company number 15046741, registered office Ground Floor, 3 Mary Ann Street, Birmingham B3 1BG. VAT number GB450637596. Registered with HMRC for anti-money laundering supervision, XAML00000208483. We trade as Taxpro.
2. What we do for you
When you approve an estimate you appoint us as your agent with HMRC for the purpose of claiming tax relief and refunds for the tax years covered by the claim. We register you for Self Assessment where required, prepare and submit your claim, receive the refund from HMRC on your behalf, deduct our fee and pay the balance to your verified bank account.
You give this authority when you sign our agreement in the app, and we confirm it with HMRC through its agent authorisation service. You also nominate us to receive any refund from HMRC for the tax years covered by your claim. You can cancel the nomination at any time by telling us or HMRC, but any refund HMRC has already paid to us under it is dealt with under these terms.
We act only for the claim described in your estimate. We do not give general tax, financial or legal advice, and we do not act for you on anything else with HMRC unless we agree it in writing. Where we registered you for Self Assessment only for this claim, we ask HMRC to close that registration once the refund is paid, unless you tell us you need it to stay open.
3. Our fee
37.5% of the refund received from HMRC plus VAT, subject to a minimum of £45 plus VAT. For CIS subcontractors the fee is £220 plus VAT per tax return, including the Self Assessment return. The fee is deducted from the refund before payment to you. If HMRC pays no refund, no fee is due.
If HMRC pays any part of the refund to you directly, our fee is still due on that amount and you agree to pay it within 14 days of receiving the money. If HMRC later reduces or reclaims a refund because information you gave us was incomplete or inaccurate, you must repay HMRC, and our fee on the amount reclaimed is not refunded. If HMRC reduces a refund because of our error, we refund the fee on that amount. If you cancel after approving your estimate and HMRC still pays a refund for that claim, our fee is due on it.
4. Your responsibilities
- Give us complete and accurate information and tell us if anything changes.
- Keep records HMRC may reasonably ask for.
- Tell us if you have another agent acting or have already claimed for the same expenses.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time before approving your estimate with nothing to pay. You also have the right to cancel this agreement within 14 days of signing it without giving a reason. To cancel, message your specialist, email hello@taxpro.co.uk or tell us in the app. If you ask us to start work within the 14 days and then cancel, you pay nothing unless HMRC has already processed your claim; in that case you pay a proportionate amount for the work done, which will not be more than the fee in section 3. After approval, if HMRC has already processed the claim the fee remains due.
6. Referrals
£50 is paid for each referred person whose refund is paid, with a further £50 when five referred people have been paid (£250 for five). Payment within 5 working days of the referred refund paying out, to the referrer's verified account.
The referrer must be an existing Taxpro client aged 18 or over. The person referred must be new to Taxpro, must sign up using the referrer's link, and must receive a refund that we have been paid our fee on. You cannot refer yourself, your own second account, or anyone at the same address with details you enter for them. We may withhold or reclaim a referral payment where we reasonably believe the scheme has been misused. We may change or end the scheme at any time, but we will pay rewards already earned. Referral payments are made without deduction of tax; you are responsible for any tax due on them.
7. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for business losses, or for penalties, interest or tax charged by HMRC because information you gave us was incomplete or inaccurate. Otherwise our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us for that claim. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
8. Complaints
Email complaints@taxpro.co.uk. Acknowledged within 2 working days, full response within 10 working days.
If you are not satisfied with our final response, see our complaints policy for how to escalate.
9. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. We may change these terms for future claims; we will tell you before any change applies to a claim you have already signed for, and you can cancel if you do not accept it. We send notices to the email address or phone number in your account. These terms and your signed agreement are the whole agreement between us about your claim. If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
