Working From Home Tax Rebate

Claim back the years you were required to work from home
If your employer required you to work from home, you could claim tax relief on the extra household costs — heating, electricity and business calls. The relief was scrapped from 6 April 2026, but you can still backdate a claim for the years you qualified, up to and including 2025/26. The four-year window means the earliest years are dropping off soon.

What Are The Criteria To Qualify For Working From Home Tax Relief?

✔ Your employer required you to work from home (not your own choice)
✔ Your employer had no office, or it lacked the facilities you needed
✔ You paid extra household costs such as heating, electricity or broadband
✔ Your employer did not reimburse those costs

How Much Can You Claim For Working From Home?

For the years it applied, you could claim a flat rate of £6 a week (£312 a year) with no receipts needed, or a share of your actual extra costs if higher. Claims can cover any qualifying year up to 2025/26, going back up to four tax years — so even a couple of past years soon add up. We work out exactly what you’re owed.

Who Can Claim Working From Home Tax Relief?
